A good way to keep non-target animals out of your bait.
I used to put out bait in a piece of PVC pipe with a cap or tape on one end, to protect my apple orchard. I was under the illusion that this would cover the area for the winter. This year We had nice weather, so I rechecked them the next week. Many of the bait blocks were gone. Then I started replacing them with Protecta Mouse Bait Stations. They hold enough bait that you can tell where the heavy infestations are. If you are in a hurry, you can give the box a shake to see if it rattles. No sound indicates it is time to add bait. I found that my old tractors attract mice as do my deer blinds.
